I started the CREATE Lab because I saw a need to focus on early numeracy skills in the classrooms where I consult. Many of these classrooms are in areas of high poverty with a diverse population. Teaching with an understanding of the cultural needs of the students can enhance learning. The lab is working on ways teachers can easily facilitate that. They already have enough on their plate.

I love teaching budding young teachers about the fun ways they can engage students in their classrooms using concrete and virtual manipulatives and the principles of universal design for learning.
